Palisades Alliance for Seniors, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization (EIN # 82-2243830), is an intergenerational group supporting seniors in Pacific Palisades to stay connected with their community even as they grow older and encounter some limitations. We aim to provide information and develop services. We also hope to provide the same community interaction for seniors that comes organically for young parents whose children act as a lever to friendship and connection.
Most of us are longtime residents of Pacific Palisades. Some of us are some middle-aged, some older. What we have in common is that, once we discovered and settled here, we found we loved it.
We all hope to continue to live on and on in our beloved Palisades, in our own homes, living securely and with satisfying social connections to our neighbors. But, as we get older, we begin to see the challenges involved for those who are more frail, who may have stopped driving, and who have lost dear friends or loved ones.
Seniors in Pacific Palisades need support. With our group, and through this website, we want to publicize the resources that are presently available, and also to engage the community in developing more and better services, so that we can all feel more secure knowing we can age here safely and comfortably.
The 2017 U.S. Census update identified 1,649 Palisadians -- 7% of the population – aged 80 or greater. Notably, a full 25% of the population was 65 or over, suggesting that the present concern will soon become a wider one as baby boomers join the ranks of the elderly.
